Shaking Up Tradition and Religion
I have a new theme song!
Have you ever had a song resonate so deeply that it feels like the theme of your life? This one has been out since 2021, but I just heard it for the first time at the writers conference I was attending last weekend. Yes, writers conference! We will get to that.
Also, hello there! It’s been a while. 🙂
This bridge is the heart of everything I do, the passion behind my writing, podcasting, and speaking. I feel the disillusionment in the church, hear the doubts and questions, sense the crankiness that simmers in our hearts, and I get excited. Because friends, the reason that we want more is that there is MORE. The Holy Spirit of Jesus is pursuing His bride.
The world looks dark right now. It’s a mess. But can I remind you that it’s always been dark and messy? This is nothing new. The world and the people in it are broken. And yet, the Light shines in the darkness.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:1-5
If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time, then you know I’ve been kinda absent here for a while. Okay, basically a year. It’s been quite the season of life: new house, new job, pandemic, etc. and I knew that I couldn’t do it all. So I stepped back from much of my writing. This past year I wrote my monthly newsletter and kept up on my podcast. That’s it. It was a different season of life, but a good one. Now I’m back. 🙂 And I’m going to writers conferences again. And I’m working on my book. It might be the time, you guys. There is some exciting forward movement that I can’t wait to share with you soon.
You might have noticed that I’ve updated my website a little. I plan to write more consistently about faith deconstruction and reconstruction, the awkward middle way of Jesus, and the state of our Modern American Church. I’ll tell you about the Christian cult I was a part of in the 1990s and share my fear that we actually accomplished our goal: the goal of infiltrating politics, culture, and mainstream church. Yikes!
If you’ve been patiently waiting for me to reappear, thanks for being here. And if you are new to this space, welcome! I’m excited for what’s to come.
