Old Journals, the Enneagram, and Exciting Changes
Reading through journals from your early twenties is a scary thing. Especially when those journals were written by an emotional, sheltered, homeschooled-in-a-cult young woman who was totally naïve but thought she knew everything. (Insert face palm.) The first few were especially cringe worthy. In preparation for Season Two of my podcast, I took my journals from the middle years with me on our road trip to Georgia over the New Year. Maybe We Just Weren’t That Special
“God has big plans for you,” they said. “You are special; you’ve been chosen,” they declared. “You are the generation who is going to change the world.” Our young hearts, full of dreams and hopes, burned with the flame of inspiration. Enemies of God
enemy: a person who is actively opposed or hostile to someone or something. Is God our enemy? It’s a question that I have been pondering for the past few weeks. Sometimes He feels like our enemy, and I’ve heard Bible verses that make Him sound like our enemy, but is He really? This is an important question! Because, I am much less likely to want to get to know Someone who is actively opposed to me… There are plenty of verses that talk about God opposing the proud, or sending judgement on the wicked, or hating certain sins. The Only Condemnation was in the Commentary
I’ve reached a pretty important conclusion. God isn’t who we think He is. I realize that the Old Testament God often has a bad reputation. It might be hard to hate Jesus, unless you’re an uber-religious leader, but Jehovah of the Old Testament does some pretty terrible things. He’s harsh and demanding. Or is He?
